It was a gradual thing and yeah I don't think he was completely over it until after his birthday, the point of the epilogue. I really liked this book. Give the book a shot :) There were several scenes that were heartwrenching, funny and just plain loving. Yeah his little problem was a bit unnerving but I think a lot of our phobias, for lack of a better word, are not always reasonable. I thought it was handled well and that he wasn't just cured miraculously.
I loved the "Bee sting" scene.do not wish to give away much :-) I would not mind reading this book again. I looooooovvvvve love/hate type romance books. This books definitely falls into the genre with a lot of "laugh out loud" scenes.
I loved, loved, loved Anthony and Kate's story ladies, and I really love the expect the unexpected love stories. Oh yeah.Don't skip the "Authors Note" at the end (page 353). 5 Stars.woop woop. I would recommend this book to anyone with a guilty pleasure of a good old fashion love story. Quinn gives you a definite ending that she didn't include in the story (hopefully all you 4 and 5 Star raters didn't miss that). Don't you just love this ladies writing. I have almost come to the end of the line for Quinn books, there's only a few left that I haven't read.
(I cried after reading the prologue. The only problem is her sister, Kate.Kate does not believe that rakes make the best husbands. The characters are very believable and likable, amusing and even unpredictable at times. Due to an odd announcement of her sister's at a party, however, Kate is forced into company with the man and finds him annoying at first but gradually learns to like him.
In a nutshell: Viscount Bridgerton is convinced he will die at a young age. And then again, later, after certain secrets are revealed). Their interaction is genuine and the emotion is strong enough to draw the reader in. To that end, he is determined to marry a young woman with whom he could not possibly fall in love.
My opinion:This is the 2nd time I've read this and I enjoyed it almost as much as I did the first time--you do lose something when you already know what will happen. I do think the book could have survived without the graphic love scenes, but, whatever. This whole family is delightful and I will re-read some of the other books in this series at a later time as well as the ones I haven't had the good fortune to acquire yet. He settles his matrimonial sights on Edwina Sheffield, a young woman of great beauty, manners, and disposition. She is determined to prevent her sister from making the horrible mistake of marrying one, namely Anthony Bridgerton.
I'm still a devoted Julia Quinn reader and recommend the Whistledown books as delightful along with her original three: Splendid, Dancing At Midnight and Minx (same character series). I loved all the siblings and couldn't wait to read all their stories but these two did not live up to the excitement and intrique of the others. Having read ALL the Bridgertons , I must warn readers that the series does have, in my opinion, a couple of duds. When He Was Wicked (Francesca Bridgerton) and Late For The Wedding ( Gregory Bridgerton) They just didn't have the umph. of the others.
